Experts have been brought in to help with the enquiry into the fire which we now know killed 71 people.
Three assessors have also been appointed to assist the chair, judge Sir Martin Moore-Bick. They have been appointed to cover three separate areas.
- Joe Montgomery, regeneration expert, will advise on community engagement and management of social housing.
- Joyce Redfearn, a former local authority chief executive, will assist on issues around local authority finance and procurement of services
- Professor David Nethercot will consider technical issues relating to the design and construction of Grenfell Tower and its refurbishment.
Seven expert witnesses are: Dr Barbara Lane, leader of fire safety engineering at Arup; Colin Todd, fire safety consultant at CS Todd and Associates; Professor Edwin Galea of the University of Greenwich; Professor José L Torero of the University of Maryland, USA; Professor Luke Bisby of the University of Edinburgh; Professor Niamh Nic Daéid of the University of Dundee; and Steve McGuirk, former chief fire officer of Greater Manchester.
The inquiry is already analysing more than 200,000 documents, a number which is expected to increase. It received 545 applications for core participant status, of which it granted 393, refused 111 and is still considering 41.
Procedural hearings, which will consider the structure and timetable for the rest of the inquiry, will be held at the Holborn Bars on 11 and 12 December.
