Housing Minister Grant Shapps has written to David Orr at the National Housing Federation complaining about housing associations’ lack of progress towards transparency.
In his open letter, Mr Shapps claims that his government “has led the way on giving the public greater access to its
accounts and expenditure” and “all bodies – be they public or private – that receive significant amounts of public funding should be more transparent and more open to scrutiny”.
Mr Shapps states he is “keen to see the sector bring forward a comprehensive offer on transparency as soon as possible” reminding him that housing associations may soon become subject to Freedom of Information requests.
