Councils across the political spectrum are rejecting the government’s new allocations policy, a Conservative website has found.

A freedom of information request to the department of Communities and Local Government department, carried out by website Conservative Home, found many councils either actively oppose the proposals or have no plans to change their allocations policy.

The government released guidance on the allocations policy in June which allows councils to reward those who have served in the armed forces, make an effort to get into work or make a community contribution by giving them a higher housing priority.
