The government now proposes that a new system for funding supported housing starts from April 2019 which includes a local housing allowance mechanism. The suggestion is that this would be supplemented by a “ringfenced” fund administered by local authorities to pay over the LHA level where local circumstances suggest there is a need.

The devil will be in the detail.

DWP has confirmed that the 1% rent cut will apply to sheltered housing providers for each of the next 3 years.
