The 2,770-home Workington-based association – Impact HA was found to have insufficient headroom in its business plan by the regulator in May 2017.

It has since been rescued by Riverside Housing. Riverside owns and manages more than 52,000 homes in England and Scotland, including 6,500 in Cumbria.

Liverty, which was formed in March, as a result of the merger of DCH and Knightston – will change its name to LiveWest from next month.

The 36,000-home landlord said: “This is because we have had a legal challenge from another company that has a similar name to Liverty, and we want to avoid any confusion.
