Jon Trickett, the left wing MP, has succeeded Emma Reynolds as shadow communities and local government secretary.
The MP for Hemsworth, formerly chair of the Compass pressure group, previously served Parliamentary Private Secretary to Gordon Brown when he was prime minister, and, most recently, as shadow minister for the Cabinet Office under Ed Miliband.
Mr Trickett was one of the 36 MPs who nominated Mr Corbyn in the run-up to the Labour leadership race. Earlier this month, the MP helped launch a campaigning group called Northern Futures for the north of England to counter the Tories’ Northern Powerhouse.
John Healey was also confirmed as shadow housing minister in the reshuffle today. Mr Healey, who was housing minister under Gordon Brown, is also a member of the SHOUT campaign – which champions social housing.
Owen Smith, former shadow Welsh secretary, was announced as shadow work and pensions secretary.
