The Local Government Association is seeking urgent assurance from the government that councils will still receive £5.3bn in regeneration funding promised by the European Union.
The EU had allocated the funding up to 2020, distributed between the 40 Local Enterprise Partnerships across England, but following the UK’s vote to leave the EU the LGA wants the government to confirm the funding will still be delivered.
The money is intended to be spent on major projects including infrastructure and jobs. The LGA has not yet specified how all of the £5.3bn is used, but it is likely at least some of the regeneration cash is used to support housing projects.
