Campaigners will stage 51 mass ‘sleep outs’ later this month across the UK in protest against the bedroom tax, according to Inside Housing
Occupy London is organising the events – to be held on 24 August – to raise awareness of the ‘impending mass homelessness brought on by the bedroom tax’.
The London sleep out is planned for the steps of St Paul’s Cathedral – where the group carried out its protest against economic inequality from October 2011 to February 2012.
One of the group’s aims at the time was to raise awareness of the lack of affordable housing in the UK.
