The government has published the terms of reference for its upcoming review of building regulations following the Grenfell Tower fire.

They promise a sufficiently robust regulatory system for the future” and to assure residents that regulations keep their buildings safe.

It will be carried out by Judith Hackitt, a former chair of the Health and Safety Executive.

Meanwhile:

Kensington and Chelsea Tenant Management Organisation (KCTMO) who managed the Lancaster West Estate, which Grenfell Tower is part of, as part of its stock of 9,760 homes in the borough is to be closed. A council spokesperson confirmed that  Barry Quirk, interim chief executive at the council, had written to KCTMO informing it of his recommendation to change the management of the borough’s homes.

The installation of new gas pipes in the Grenfell Tower refurbishment meant that builders enter every flat to replace pipes between the floors, as part of the £10.3m refurbishment of Grenfell Tower, which completed in 2016.
