Having set up 11 co-ops in my younger days, and worked with 2 new build and one self build co-op, its great to see the growth of self build again as a route to part or whole home ownership.

Tenants get to build parts of their home and that sweat equity becomes their share

or

Tenants borrow money now and build the home and afterwards they own the share of the home  which is the diference between the higher costof the completed home and the original build cost and then they rent the remainder.

Plus Dane, a Housing Association who own or manages 13,000 home in Merseyide and Cheshire, say they will also save money by training up existing repairs and maintenance teams to build homes, bypassing costlier building contractors. The project, known as Ni Smartbuild, is due to launch next month.
