The site brings together research and comprehensive guidance on supporting adults with learning disabilities to lead safe and independent lives free from abuse, harassment and loneliness. Action Against Cruelty also features an entirely accessible EasyRead microsite for independent use by adults with learning disabilities.

Action Against Cruelty builds on our influential 2012 research report Loneliness and Cruelty, which revealed the extent to which many people with learning disabilities find themselves victim to targeted cruelty or abuse in their community. Read more about the background to Action Against Cruelty.

The site provides thorough guidance on identifying and responding to well-being concerns, supporting people through reporting cruelty and any subsequent legal measures as well as safeguarding, prevention and civil remedies.There are also numerous additional resources including case studies, research reports, further expert guidance and over a hundred good practice examples.
