The Home Builders Federation fears councils could seek to use compulsory purchase orders (CPOs) to hinder development, following Birmingham’s groundbreaking move to seize undeveloped land from developers.

Birmingham City Council  voted to introduce a policy to compulsorily purchase land from developers who are not building homes. The Home Builders Federation (HBF) welcomed Birmingham’s decision because it has “an excellent track record of working with developers and landowners to bring sites forward for housing”
