The Homes and Communities Agency will delay its plan to introduce regulatory fees until October, following a consultation with the sector.
Providers will only pay 50% of the annual fee for 2017/18.
There will be a fixed fee of £2,500 to register with the regulator and an annual fee based on the number of homes owned. Providers with more than 1,000 units will be charged £4.72 per unit, and those with less than 1,000 units will be charged a fixed fee of £300 a year.
The regulator will waive fees for 2017/18 for providers with fewer than 60 social rented homes if it has applied to de-register by 1 September 2017. This process is expected to be complete by the end of the financial year.
It will also place a 1% per year cap on the maximum increase to total income raised from fees until the end of the current spending review period in 2020.
