Housing costs are causing emotional difficulties for millions of families as prices continue to rise, a YouGov survey suggests.
According to the research from housing and homelessness charity Shelter, almost one in three adults are witnessing stress and depression in their family due to housing costs.
One in four individuals are kept awake at night by the stress of paying their rent or mortgage while the same number state that housing costs are causing arguments with their partner and other family members, the survey finds.
Research from Shelter earlier this month showed rising numbers of people are said to be constantly struggling to keep up with their rent or mortgage.
A total of 7.8m people are finding it difficult to maintain these housing costs, the previous study found, a figure which rose by 44% on findings from the previous year.
