A London NHS trust is piloting a scheme to provide mental health support for older female rough sleepers.
Working with London’s sub regional housing partnerships, Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust is funding an outreach worker for a year to work specifically with vulnerable women who have lived on the streets for several years.
The outreach worker, Dagnija O’Connell, will be based at the Joint Homelessness Team in Westminster, which is part of the NHS Trust. She will work with the police, accident and emergency departments, transport services and other community groups and outreach teams to build a history and profile of homeless women in London and put appropriate support in place.
