The Homes and Communities Agency has permanently appointed Matthew Bailes as director of regulation, after a period of secondment.

Mr Bailes was today unveiled as the HCAs permanent regulation chief, following a temporary transfer from the Communities and Local Government department where he was head of affordable housing.

Andy Rose, chief executive of the HCA, said: ‘I am delighted to be able to announce this appointment. Matthew has a wealth of experience of the social housing sector and his strong leadership has helped steer the regulator and our partners through some tough challenges.’

Mr Bailes was appointed following an open recruitment process, and will continue on secondment before taking up the position permanently.
